El primero se refiere al concepto clásico de un solo equipo con unas capacidades de cómputo muy superiores a la media. El segundo se refiere a un conjunto de sistemas de cómputo que de forma conjunta tienen capacidades para resolver problemas que no se pueden abordar con computadoras estándar.</p>\n<p>Incluso un sistema HPC puede constar de diferentes tipos de sistemas y/o arquitecturas adecuados para abordar diferentes tipos de problemas. Ese es el caso del sistema HPC de la UCO. Consta de tres elementos diferenciados:</p>\n<ul class=\"alternate\" type=\"square\">\n <li>Un ordenador Nvidia DGX2 con 16x tarjetas Tesla V100, 512Gb de memoría de GPU, 81920 cores cuda y 10240 Tensor cores, para un rendimiento de 2 petaFlops. A este equipo singular se le ha dado el nombre de averroes.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul class=\"alternate\" type=\"square\">\n <li>Un \"Fat node\" consistente en un servidor bull X808 con 192 cores en 8 procesadores y 12 teraBytes de memoria compartida, siendo la cantidad de memoria su elemento singular que le permite abordar problemas complicados de abordar en otras arquitecturas.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul class=\"alternate\" type=\"square\">\n <li>Un cluster de cómputo estándar consistente en 24 nodos Bull x440, cada uno con 40 cores en 2 procesadores y 192 gigaBytes de ram por nodo, para un total de 4.5 teraBytes de memoria distribuida y un total de 960 cores para un rendimiento de 82 teraFlops.
